Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a year-round position where the Nurse provides medical assistance in an environment comparable to a grade school health center, primarily serving students. Responsibilities include administering medications, providing basic first aid, maintaining accurate records, and responding to emergencies involving campers and staff at Frost Valley YMCA. All services must be delivered in compliance with the policies and procedures established by Frost Valley YMCA, the New York State Office of Professions, the New York State Department of Health, and the American Camp Association.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold current New York State LPN or RN License
  • Excellent organization
  • Proficient in Gmail, Microsoft Office and databases
  • Able to live on site
  • Possess a valid US Driver’s License

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer medications in a timely and safe manner, demonstrating practical knowledge of pharmacology
  • Accurately document all care given per Frost Valley YMCA policies and procedures, ensure documentation is filed properly, and maintain confidentiality of medical records
  • Provide basic and emergency healthcare to guests and staff in compliance with physician orders and Frost Valley policies and procedures
  • Respond to calls coming in to the Wellness Center by radio and phone
  • On occasion serve as LPN/RN on-call overnight when guests are on property
  • Ensure the Wellness Center and other medical venues are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Facilitate smooth transition of care to outside medical providers, as well as provide follow up as needed
  • Work in collaboration with other medical disciplines, Wellness Center Staff and other departments to ensure safety, wellbeing and positive health outcomes for guests and staff
  • Communicate special health needs to appropriate staff
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services with keeping track of inventory supplies
  • Provide competent, age specific and culturally sensitive care while maintaining standards of professional practice
  • Interpret and enforce all camp policies, rules, and regulations
  • Facilitate staff and guest awareness of unsafe or at risk behaviors and conditions
  • Participate in emergency drills and trainings
  • Implement emergency procedures and safety protocols for the organization
  • Practice within standards set forth by the New York State Office of Professions, New York State Department of Health and the American Campers Association
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services
