To ensure success in the role you will need to have an extensive surgical nursing background and be practicing at a senior level preferably with a postgraduate certificate or diploma in speciality nursing practice.
As the Nurse Specialist you will be able to demonstrate expert knowledge, advanced clinical skills, and be an excellent communicator and team member. You will be accountable for care delivery and coordination for Liver Transplant patients and will work in collaboration with Liver Transplant Coordinators, other Nurse Specialists, Charge Nurses and multidisciplinary team members across the continuum of care. Key to your success will be aligning with our Te Toka Tumai values.

Responsibilities:
- responsibility for inpatient care and coordination, including nurse led interventions in a clinical setting, necessary referrals to multi-disciplinary teams, organisation of family meetings as required; assisting with discharge planning and communicating plans to patient, whanau, teams and local DHBs
- being the first point of contact for patients and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure seamless care across care settings
- maintaining accurate documentation to ensure patients receive timely interventions
- providing education and ensuring evidence based practice to enhance care of patients across the Liver Transplant service and Auckland City Hospita
