JOB SUMMARY

As an autonomous practitioner, with valuable leadership experience and clinical knowledge, performing this essential role in the collection of plasma will directly contribute to the saving and improving of patients’ lives.
You will lead the day-to-day management and performance of a team of Healthcare Assistants at our Plasma Donor Centres, building the team skills and capabilities, and supporting them in doing life-saving work.
We provide an extensive induction and training programme during which time you will work in a supernumerary capacity until your training is complete. You will be allocated a mentor and will be supported throughout your training, which we expect to take around 6 weeks.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience of successful implementation of change with a key focus of managing and motivating people
  • Experience of mentorship, coaching and presentation of educational materials.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of patient safety initiatives and strategies and risk management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

  • Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (Part 1 Adult/General, level 1 or 2) (which must be maintained).
  • Evidence of commitment to continued learning and application in practice including demonstrated commitment to own Continuous Professional Development.

Responsibilities:

In this role you will inspire your team through positive leadership to provide exceptional and safe care for our donors and donated plasma. You will be a mentor to your team to provide support and leadership to further their development and performance. You will take ownership for the operational success of your team to ensure we deliver a first-class donor experience. Your responsibilities will include:-

  • Leading day-to-day management of our plasma collection team to safely deliver sufficient supply to meet programme needs.
  • Ensuring that the plasma product safely meets the requirements of Manufacturing Practice.
  • Providing expertise on donor eligibility and clinical decisions to ensure the safety of our donors.
  • Managing, investigating and escalating any risks, or adverse/safety incidents to ensure prevention and to identify areas of improvement.
  • Being a role model to drive change and improve services and safety through inspirational leadership and performance management.
  • Coaching and mentoring your colleagues in new procedures to ensure your team excels in its service delivery.
  • Demonstrating our values and behaviours to create a culture of inclusivity, listening and respect.
  • Deputising for the Plasma Operation Manager and support neighbouring teams.
  • Delivering an excellent donation experience to ensure exceptional donor care, satisfaction and retention.

You may on occasions be asked to support other bases, with prior notice. You will also be required to participate in a shift working rota which may include evening, weekend, or public holiday working to cover a 7 day rota. Roster will be provided at least 4 weeks in advance.
