KEY REQUIREMENTS
- NZ Registered Nurse with a current Practicing Certificate
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Postgraduate Diploma
- Minimum of five years’ experience post registration in relevant nursing specialty
- Proficient or Expert Level of practice
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Sound understanding of professional ethics
- Change and financial management experience
- Quality improvement knowledge
Previous charge nurse experience is highly desirable.

Achieving the best health outcomes for our patients starts with expecting the best from ourselves, and right now Health New Zealand Northland is looking for a motivated Nurse Unit Manager in the surgical services at Whangārei Hospital.
The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective operational management of Perioperative Services (Theatres, Surgical Admissions Unit (SAU), Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), Pre Assessment Clinic and Pain Service) that delivers care to patients and whānau at Northland.
The Nurse Unit Manager role has nursing professional and management accountability within a multidisciplinary team for clinical care, quality and safety, workforce, service delivery and the implementation of designated nursing and directorate strategy for the services.
The Nurse Unit Manager is a senior nursing role and is responsible for leading and managing people, systems, processes and resources that facilitate efficient and effective service delivery and for ensuring a safe and expected standard of patient care.
This is a 1.0 FTE role, working 40hours per week.
