Description:
We are looking for a practitioner, fully qualified with SVQ 3, SCQF 7, NNEB, HND in childcare or equivalent.
- To support senior members of staff in the delivery of high quality childcare
- To provide opportunities to ensure all our children make good progress in all areas of their learning and development.
- To be a key person within the childcare team, providing high quality day care in a safe and stimulating environment where children can have fun, be happy and flourish, within statutory and regulatory requirements.
Main responsibilities:
- To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care and development for children placed in the Nursery.
- To ensure the Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed by all staff and users.
- To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Manager.
- To give support to other staff within the Nursery.
- To implement the daily routine in the play room ensuring all requirements of the CfE are being met.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To act as a key person, update allocated individual development records, maintaining confidentiality at all times such as assessment records and children’s Care Plans. Giving professional support to parent/ carer and other staff in conjunction with the manager.
- To establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment throughout the nursery.
- To be aware of social, intellectual, physical and emotional wellbeing of the children and provide appropriate fun and stimulating experiences to encourage independence and child initiated learning to take place.
- To participate in curriculum planning and implementation providing an effective learning environment.
- To provide a safe and stimulating environment that makes children, parents/ carers and students feel happy, safe, comfortable and valued.
- To assist in the observation and training of trainees and students on placement.
- To undertake appropriate continuous professional development and participate in team meetings such as staff and room meetings within and outside working hours.
- Be responsible for updating registers, activity plans, accident records etc.
- Carry out administration tasks as appropriate such as answer telephone calls Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.
- Administer first aid and administer prescription medication when necessary following set guidelines within the appropriate policies and procedures.
- To work within agreed policies and procedures.
- Encourage parental involvement and support for the nursery.
- Work closely with the manager in the ordering of materials and equipment.
- To ensure the physical well being of the child by meeting individual care & needs e.g. nappy changing, toilet training and hygiene, clothing and application of sun cream.
- To answer doors, greet visitors, parents/ carers in an appropriate manner ensuring identification at all times.
- To give information regarding the day care or passing enquiries onto the manager as appropriate.
- To ensure the room is tidied and set up for the following session.
- To cover in other rooms when necessary.
- To ensure children are signed in and out of the building.
- To liaise with the Local Authority and other professionals associated with the Nursery.
- To complete tracking and evaluation for children in your room.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £22,464.00-£26,200.00 per year
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
