Description:
TITLE AND SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED BASED UPON EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care: bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating.
- Maintains patient safety and cleanliness: safety checks, cleaning, organizing, changing linens, emptying hampers, clearing hallways.
- Manages supplies and equipment: acquiring, distributing, ordering, charging/crediting, setting up, stocking.
- Delivers patient nourishments, fills water pitchers, distributes mail.
- Performs core nursing tasks: blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections, Foley care, ADLs, point of care testing, telemetry monitor application, HAC & PSI prevention, urine specimen collection, restraint management.
- Communicates effectively with the healthcare team, receives feedback constructively, identifies learning needs, participates in self-review.
- Supports team and department: suggests changes, takes responsibility, reports equipment issues, responds to call lights, passes meal trays, transports patients.
- Documents in medical records, completes clerical tasks, complies with safety policies, responds to emergencies, provides companionship/supervision.
- Engages in professional development, improves knowledge and skills, performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant or EIC training program.
- Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
- Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
