Nursing Assistant - Specialist Regional Infectious Diseases Unit

Work under the overall supervision of a registered practitioner.
Be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of delegated personal care to patients within the ward/department team.
Carry out a number of delegated routine procedures requiring a base level of knowledge, understanding, practical competency and skill specific to the personal care of patients.
Vacancies have arisen within the Specialist Regional Infectious Diseases Unit at North Manchester General Hospital
You will have the opportunity to join a diverse multidisciplinary team of professionals committed to the high quality care of patients living with Infectious Diseases from Greater Manchester and beyond. Relevant experience is an advantage but training will be provided. You will demonstrate compassionate and empathy for a vulnerable and often stigmatised cohort of patients.
You will be expected to work a variety of shifts including weekend and bank holidays. The post holder should expect to be nursing patients living with Infectious Diseases including (but not limited to) HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Malaria, Typhoid, Influenza, Covid-19, Clostridioides Difficile and MRSA.
As part of striving for excellence, it has been accepted that the same standard of service should be available regardless of the day and time in which it is delivered. In view of this, seven day working is likely to occur throughout with a likely requirement to work fewer but longer shifts in the interest of continuity of care. The great news is, the completion of the Support Worker Development Programme will give you the opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role.
If you’re a more experienced Nursing Assistant seeking a new opportunity in a Band 3 role, you’ll undertake a skills analysis when you start to identify any gaps in your clinical skills knowledge needed for your role. You’ll then be supported to access relevant modules from the clinical skills programme to support your progression to a Band 3 post on completion.
