JOB SUMMARY:
Assist in the operations of the Ruminant Forage Utilization Laboratory at Clemson University. This entails laboratories including Analytical Chemistry, rumen fermentation and forage evaluation. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School or Equivalent
Work Experience: Journey-level technical experience in a related laboratory setting.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education: 1st Bachelor’s Degree - in a related field to assigned area of research

Responsibilities:
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Laboratory Management: Maintain operation, cleanliness and supplies needed for the ongoing studies of nutrient utilization in ruminants (in-vivo and in-vitro). Maintain
chemical and biological safety protocols, inventory and ordering. Training of graduate and undergraduate students.
30% - Essential - Management of specialized nutrient analyzers such as fiber, N fractions, NFC fractions, and proximate analyses.
30% - Essential - Conduct rumen fermentation procedures, including, in-vitro batch culture, gas production and continuous cultures.
10% - Essential - Data management of lab test for reporting. Ensure efficient workflow . Coordinate work with other core labs on and off campus
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as Lead - Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department’s budget.
