Responsibilities:
- Attends annual competency series for clinical staff; provides competency lectures when applicable.
- Conducts in-service sessions for hospital personnel where applicable and serves as education preceptor for dietetic interns from CSE,UMDNJ, Sodexo and other students as assigned.
- Confers with multidisciplinary healthcare team members to include; but not limited to, physicians, nurses, and case managers, as related to patient care.
- Attends patient care conferences.
- Develops, plans, and implements nutrition projects for the department and community through services such as speaking engagements and classes.
- Follows standards of practice for prioritizing care recommendations and implementation of nutrition care plans and complies with regulatory requirements for completion of assessment, and reassessment documentation within assigned timeframes.
- Maintains registration status through attendance at seminars and continuing education programs.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary patient teaching process by providing appropriate diet and drug/nutrient interaction education to patients and/or family members.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify the learning methods preference of the patient.
- Reviews medical records, assesses patient needs and initiates appropriate nutritional therapy to provide optimal care, evaluated based on chart audits and clinical competency evaluation
