Description:

Bayshore Medical Personnel is seeking an experienced practitioner in Regina, SK with a minimum of 2 years (24 months) of cumulative full or part time experience who has worked in an occupational health setting as a member of a multidisciplinary team, providing services to adults.

Tasks:

  • Liaise and communicate with the Health Service Manager and other Health Services personnel to ensure an effective collaborative approach to service delivery
  • When requested by our federal client, meet with Members to discuss relevant medical information, medical profile assignment, and treatment recommendation
  • When requested by our federal client, attend occupational health team meetings to provide professional consultation and advice related to occupational health and wellness.
  • Review medical files, including review of medication usage and medical conditions, to determine the occupational fitness of Members and to assign a medical profile for them per our federal client’s required format (provided to the Physician after award of Contract), with appropriate limitations and restrictions, in accordance with the Health Services Manual and the Disability Case Management and Accommodation Manual. Deliverable: The medical profile must be completed within 10 business days of the review and/or additional medical information being supplied, and forwarded to the Employee Management Relations Officer (EMRO) for signature. Administrative support will be available to the Health Services Officer (HSO) for appointment booking and liaising with Members and management.
  • When requested by our federal client, facilitate treatment referrals for Members to internal and/ or external practitioners
  • Liaise with our federal client’s members or their Physician regarding medical issue
  • When requested by our federal client, conduct medical review, including the review of psychological reports, of Members considered for posting to a specialized unit (e.g. Communication Services (CS), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E, Collision Analysts, Underwater Recovery Team (URT), Forensic Science and Identification Services (FS & IS), Isolated Posts). These assessments are for the purpose of screening members in/out of the specialized unit and monitoring the mental health and fitness for specialized duty of members. Deliverable: A medical profile must be complete within 10 business days of the review and forwarded to the Employee Management Relations Officer (EMRO) for signature. Administrative support will be available to the Health Services Officer (HSO) for appointment booking and liaising with Members and management.
  • As requested by our federal client, provide expert testimony or response to Canadian Human Rights Commission, Internal Administrative Matters, Federal Court matters, Access to Information Program (ATIP), as well as consultation with our federal client’s legal Services and Commanding Officer, in accordance to the timeframe requested.
  • Provide assistive services, medical referrals and occupational health related advice to our federal client’s members located in remote northern communities
  • Provide periodic presentations at meetings and/or organized training events, as requested by the RCM
  • Store all records created and utilized while performing work under the Contract on an issued computer only. Anything that is required to be retained and stored for a member’s medical file must be printed off using our federal client’s printer only, and placed on the member’s medical file. The Contractor must not save any of our federal client records created or accessed or utilized while performing Work under the Contract on any databases, including Outlook.
  • Although not an employee of our federal client, while performing work under the Contract, conduct themselves in accordance with our federal client’s Renewed Core Values and expected behaviours.
  • Although not an employee of our federal client, while performing work under the Contract, conduct themselves in accordance with the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector.
  • Follow our federal client’s policies and guidelines, in particular, Occupational Health and Safety Branch (OHSB) policy, guidelines, directives, and policy interpretation (e.g. from the Chief Medical Officer, National Chief Psychologist).
  • Follow direction and taskings from the Employee Management Relations Officer (EMRO), or equivalent. This may include requests for information of a non-confidential nature (e.g. member’s limitations and restrictions, requirement for sick leave, prognosis for return to work), or prioritization of workload in order to balance competing demands.
  • Perform work under the contract professionally in accordance with standards set by applicable regulatory authorities as well as any additional standards.

The Occupational Health Physician must:

  • Have a license as a Physician in the Province of Saskatchewan, or registered within another province or territory with eligibility for license in the province of Saskatchewan;
  • be in good standing with the Provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan;
  • be an experienced practitioner with at least five years (60 months) of cumulative full or part time experience who has worked with emergency services/first responders personnel.
  • Have a copy of University Medical Degree
  • Have a copy of license, and if registered outside of Saskatchewan, written statement/proof from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Saskatchewan indicating eligibility for license in the province of Saskatchewan
  • Have proof of good standing with College of Physicians and Surgeons
