Description:
Job Title: Occupational Medicine Specialist
License: DOH or DHA
Education: PG Degree in Occupational Medicine & MBBS,
Certification Internationally recognized: Fellowship (FFOM) Occupational Medicine or Membership (MFOM) Occupational Medicine.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience Titled as Occupational Medicine Specialist after obtaining PG (Main or Subspecialty)
Job Location: Dubai/Abu Dhabi
Occupational Health Physician shall be a qualified medical practitioner with specialist training in Occupational Medicine, practicing preventive medicine in the workplace, and having skills and knowledge required to meet the needs of businesses and ensure optimum health of all employees.
Additionally, he/she may have to lead and coordinate the activities of team of disciplined staff covering occupational medicine services. The team may include occupational health nurse, audiologist, optometrist, radiographer spirometry technicians and industrial hygienist as & when required.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that Occupational Health (OH) arrangements and activities are executed as planned.
Ensure that OH Management System complies with applicable laws and regulations.
Advise on fitness for work through pre-employment and pre-placement assessments.
Conduct periodic (in-service) medical assessments in-line with ADNOC GMU guidelines.
Review the fitness of employees post illness and advise on rehabilitation programs and redeployment or ill health retirement as appropriate.
Monitor the health of the workforce and implement appropriate health promotion programs.
Assess the risks to the health of individuals or groups engaged in particular tasks and advise any remedial actions required.
Advise on policies and procedures to promote positive mental health at work.
Advise on health and safety policies, practices and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and disability discrimination legislation.
Provide the medical input into attendance management programs to assist management in controlling sickness absence and its costs (reduce absenteeism at work due to sickness.
Understand and promote the company’s HSE (health, safety & environmental) policy and objectives; perform work in accordance with the company’s established rules, regulations and approved procedures; intervene to stop unsafe acts and practices; and be accountable for the well-being and safety of own self and others; Maintain and review employees’ medical records to ensure continuity of care, timely feedbacks to CMO or equivalent on major issues such as insurance notifications or regular sick leaves etc.
Coordinate and assist in reviewing and monitoring periodic medical examinations, return to work assessments, fitness for duty assessments. Monitor field-based employees with high-risk medical conditions (viral hepatitis, coronary heart diseases, diabetes etc.)
Perform worksite walk-through assessments for specific cases, to determine employee work processes and potential sources for illness and injury.
Implement the health education awareness programs effectively.
Use epidemiological methods to define and monitor the health needs of company employees.
Contribute to the plan of health controls and surveillance of actual and potential toxic or hazardous conditions in the work environment. Provide individual counseling sessions to employees on health maintenance.
Prepare and provide HSE and OH training materials for health care professionals onsite.
