Description:
The OT provides occupational therapy assessment and treatment using advanced clinical skills in a specialty area of occupational therapy for patients referred to non-contracted and contracted facilities of the Rehabilitation Institute. Serves as a clinical resource for other staff members. May have an individual agreement with an academic institution for instructional services. Participates in research conducted within the Rehabilitation Institute. This is a regional role that will spend 50% of time at UPMC Horizon Shanango Valley and 50% of time at UPMC Jameson.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain written documentation for all occupational therapy services, including initial assessments, follow-up visits, and discharge summaries.
- Co-sign occupational therapy assistant documentation biweekly.
- Communicate patient status to referring physicians and other healthcare team members.
- Schedule patients to achieve and maintain productivity levels meeting or exceeding facility standards.
- Provide verbal and/or written home instructions to patients and family members.
- Adjust patient programs based on their response to treatment and changes in status.
- Participate in clinical education programs by supervising students from various universities.
- Maintain professional license/registration through continuing education and development opportunities.
- Perform occupational therapy assessments, reassessments, and treatment.
- Supervise occupational therapy assistants treating pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Develop care plans based on physician referrals and assessment results.
- Rotate through treatment areas as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and actively participate in in-service education programs.
- Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
- Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.
