Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) looking to showcase your skills in an environment that promotes unique career development and leadership opportunities? The Central Alberta Cancer Centre is currently looking for an (OTII) to join our progressive, patient focused team. Our supportive care team is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of adults affected by cancer from the time of cancer diagnosis through treatment and beyond. The Rehab Oncology team collaborates with each other and other interdisciplinary professionals to offer services, programming and patient education. Reporting Manager Supportive Care North, Cancer Care Alberta, the OTII is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients as well as the development, implementation and evaluation of treatment programs according to professional practice standards, student supervision and staff education. You will provide evidence-informed services designed to meet the needs of individuals/groups to define protocols for treatment of a wide range of symptoms from numerous types of cancer, including outpatient occupational therapy treatment for cancer, participation in development and delivery and evaluation of patient education classes, assessment/management of lymphedema, pain and symptom control of head and neck, breast cancer as well as other cancer groups. Further supports will include the provisioning of palliative care, OT assessment, treatment and consultation to adult patients with cancer-related impairments, including-but-not-limited to; lymphedema, chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy, fatigue, functional impairments impacting ADLs, eating/feeding and dysphagia management, neurological involvement, head and neck cancer, breast cancer, sexual health, and pain and symptom management. Please note this position may be eligible for relocation expenses in line with AHS policies.
Description:
As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.
