Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Join our dynamic team as an Occupational Therapist, where you will manage a diverse caseload of clients with complex needs. Utilize evidence-based and client-centered principles to deliver effective interventions and enhance the well-being of our clients. You’ll play a key role in service development, therapy management, and staff training while ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding and professional practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Caseload Management: Handle a caseload of clients with complex needs, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions based on evidence-based and client-centered principles.
- Service Development: Contribute to planning and evaluating OT services. Prepare reports, conduct assessments, and run structured therapeutic activities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT). Engage families as part of the treatment process.
- Therapy/Activity Management: Develop and manage group and individual therapy/activity schedules. Provide analysis on engagement and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Staff Training and Reflective Practice: Participate in staff training and reflective practice sessions to promote a culture of learning and best practices.
- Independent Work: Operate independently with regular supervision and reviews from the Clinical Director.
- Safeguarding: Ensure patient safety and conduct activities in line with professional standards and legislation.
CLINICAL DUTIES:
- Understanding Disability Impact: Apply advanced understanding of disability effects on occupational performance and provide advice on lifestyle changes and environmental adaptations.
- Promote Equality: Ensure equality of outcomes for service users, considering factors like mental health, ethnicity, gender, culture, and age.
- Social Inclusion and Well-being: Foster social inclusion and well-being through evidence-based practices and principles of recovery, health promotion, and relapse prevention.
- Caseload Management: Independently manage a clinical caseload, setting occupational therapy goals and using specialized assessments.
- Clinical Judgment: Exercise clinical judgment in complex cases, referring to senior staff as needed.
- Holistic Assessment: Address both physical and mental health needs in assessments and interventions.
- Intervention Planning: Plan and implement individual and group interventions to help service users achieve their goals and improve occupational performance.
- Risk Identification: Identify and address significant risk factors in accordance with local policies.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as required, adhering to service policies and promoting anti-discriminatory practices.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance systems and audits, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
