Description:

The Occupational Therapy Department provides many opportunities and you will be able to work collaboratively with patients to identify occupational focused goals and interventions both in the unit and community. The department has a variety of resources including education, a site which provides the opportunity to work with animals to explore and enhance skills in horticulture, building and maintenance. There is a gym and a large sports hall. Creative spaces including a music studio and art workshop.
Patients also have the opportunity to be supported with enhancing ADL skills in the ADL kitchen. You will be able to work with patients to offer opportunities to work towards vocational goals through work skills placements in the unit and also signposting patients to vocational opportunities in the community. We have a large team consisting of an Occupational Therapy Team Leader, Occupational Therapists, OTA’s, education staff, technical instructors, sports instructors, music instructors and wellbeing facilitators.The post holder will be responsible for occupational therapy input in an ethical manner for a defined caseload. To provide a high quality Occupational therapy service which is holistic, evidence based, safe, effective, efficient, accessible and client centred.
The post holder will support patients independence and wellbeing and deliver individual assessments and formulation and specific treatments which are client centred and support timely discharge whilst maintaining occupation at the centre of practice. The post holder will provide active clinical and managerial leadership skills within the team, providing mentoring education and supervision to non-registered staff and students and via practice and work based learning opportunities. To contribute to development, provision and evaluation of programmes of Learning and Development to other professionals. To represent and promote the specialist role of occupational therapy including service planning and development and supporting practice placements for occupational therapy students and support students from other disciplines
