Description:
Provides occupational therapy assessment and treatment using advanced clinical skills in a specialty area of occupational therapy for patients referred to non-contracted and contracted facilities of the Rehabilitation Institute. Serves as a clinical resource for other staff members. May have an individual agreement with an academic institution for instructional services. Participates in research conducted within the Rehabilitation Institute.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain written documentation for all occupational therapy services, including initial assessments, follow-up visits, and discharge summaries.
- Co-sign occupational therapy assistant documentation biweekly.
- Communicate patient’s status to referring physicians and other healthcare team members.
- Complete necessary charge and statistical information to reflect services rendered.
- Schedule patients to meet productivity standards while ensuring quality care.
- Provide verbal and/or written home instructions to patients and/or family members.
- Participate in clinical education by supervising students during internships.
- Maintain professional license/registration through continuing education and professional development.
- Perform and supervise occupational therapy assessments, treatments, and reassessments for various age groups, and adjust plans of care as needed.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and in-service education programs.
- Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
- Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.
