Permanent, Part-time – Exempt
(25 Hours/Week, School Days Only)
Located on the ancestral, unceded territory of the syilx nation, in the heart of the beautiful North Okanagan, School District No. 22 (Vernon) provides quality educational programs and a safe learning environment for the over 9200 diverse students within its 19 schools. 600 teachers, 420 support staff and 60 management staff work together towards the success of our students.
We have an opening for the permanent part-time, exempt position of Occupational Therapist. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, and/or a related field, be eligible for membership in the College of Occupational Therapists of BC, have strong interpersonal and consultation skills, at least three years’ pediatric experience, and hold a valid class 5 BC driver’s licence. Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
You are detail oriented, an excellent communicator and can sensitively manage confidential information. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are able to support high quality programming that includes the development of self-regulation, gross and fine motor skills, and sensory processing, and supports activities of daily living including self-care.
Reporting to the Director of Instruction, Inclusion, the Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with school teams to assess and plan for the needs of students requiring occupational therapy supports. This includes conducting assessments, determining individual equipment needs, training and monitoring of Education Assistants, assessment of safety and accessibility issues and liaison with community medical professionals and institutions and educational agencies.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL RECEIVE:
A wage of $79.23 per hour
