Description:
UHCW is looking for Occupational Therapists with an interest in Stroke. This opportunity is for a Band 5-6 development post, which will enable you to expand your clinical knowledge and develop your leadership capabilities.
You will be working on the stroke wards including hyper-acute and acute. We are at the heart of the stroke centralisation and work closely with our community and near by Trusts.
Are you a Band 5 looking for a fantastic opportunity to test your training and put your skills to the test or you may already be experienced and looking for a new challenge in a Trust which offers you a breadth of diversity and experience. In either instance you will be supported through your UHCW journey by our team of expert senior Occupational Therapists.
To provide the best care, we offer a 7 day service but don’t worry, we know to be at your best you need downtime and time to recharge - but you should be prepared to work weekends on a rolling basis too.
This post is for a Band 5-6 development Occupational Therapist at UHCW NHS Trust, working within Stroke. The post holder will manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and / or complex needs, using evidence-based practice and client-centred principles, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical setting.
The post holder will participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice and service development within the area.
The post holder will ensure development of staff and students through supervision, training, and appraisal.
Main duties
To manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and / or complex needs, using evidence-based practice with client centred principles, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
To support the learning and development of students and staff
To participate in 7-day working patterns as required

Clinical
- Hold responsibility for own caseload within a defined area of the service and eventually work without direct supervision
- Carry a clinical caseload of patients, assess, evaluate, and provide a detailed written treatment plan with patient centred goals working within ward / department areas, home and community settings as identified by Occupational Therapist
- Carry out treatment using a variety of modalities, this may include physical, cognitive, perceptual and psychological intervention, evaluating modifying and recording all interventions and outcomes
- Work in accordance with RCOT & HCPC rules of professional conduct and within local care pathways, policies and standards
- Professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of his/her own professional activities and to manage clinical risk within own caseload at all times, whilst remaining responsible to Team Leader/Clinical Specialist
- Responsible for own personal development, keeping up to date with occupational therapy practice in order to establish and maintain competence and fitness to practice as an Occupational Therapist. To maintain a professional evidence-based portfolio, meeting the requirements of the HCPC
- Review and reflect on own practice and performance and make effective use of professional and operational supervision and annual review undertaking supervision of others as agreed.
