Description:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic therapy team at Rugby St Cross Hospital, UHCW NHS Trust. UHCW Therapy Department is a forward thinking, innovative department working within a large, multi-site acute NHS trust.
The post holder will work clinically within the elective orthopaedic and trauma rehabilitation wards, providing highly specialist advice, assessments and treatments to a wide variety of patients. You will work across the elective and trauma wards, day surgery and the Rugby Ambulatory Orthopaedic Service (RAOS).
Applicants will need to demonstrate effective communication skills, be comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, with varying levels of health and/or complex needs. The successful candidate will work within an integrated team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and provide clinical supervision to staff and students.
We are looking for applicants who have developed skills and knowledge to assess and treat patients with a wide variety of conditions within an inpatient setting. Due to the high turnover of patients and varying complexity the applicant needs to be dynamic and adaptable. You should have experience in staff supervision and student training, as well as experience of service development.
The Trauma and Orthopaedic team operates a seven day week working pattern, with early and late shifts.

Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
Manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and or /complex needs, using evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical area.
Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training and annual appraisal.
Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area.
Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Occupational Therapy
Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.

Be professional, legally responsible & accountable for all aspects of own work and activities, to manage clinical risk within own clinical caseload.
Carry a clinical caseload of highly complex patients, provide advanced therapeutic assessment & evaluation and provide detailed written treatment plans with patient centred goals working within ward / department areas.
Work as an autonomous practitioner and member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions and influencing decisions about patient care programmes, taking on the role of care co-ordinator and/ or vocational lead where relevant.
Carry out treatment, using a broad variety of modalities and clinical reasoning to allow selection of the most appropriate technique evaluating, modifying and recording all interventions and outcomes & adapting them to meet the needs of the patient.
Support the production of an annual report specific to own clinical area & participate in the delivery of the Therapy business plan.
Use highly developed manual treatment skills requiring coordination, sensation & dexterity.
