Description:

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy plus four (4) years broad experience in a health care setting including at least two (2) years in designated program/service areas and previous supervisory and administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia. Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Competitive salary: $55.50 - $69.09 CAD per hour, depending on experience

Providence Health Care’s Occupational Therapy department is now accepting applications for a brand-new leadership opportunity at our long-term care sites. This Occupational Therapy Supervisor position for Seniors Care provides fantastic opportunities for career growth and development while supporting a tight-knit and collaborative health care team embedded within a long-term care home, allowing for deep connections to be made with both colleagues and residents. In addition, the department-based culture of our OT team keeps you connected to the sense of community fostered by Providence’s larger OT department, with a culture of on-site mentorship providing a wealth of knowledge and expertise as you further your professional skill set.
Our OTs are key members of our Allied Health team, working closely with other Allied disciplines like Physiotherapy and Speech Language Pathology as well as other members of our care teams to tackle the rewarding variety of treatment needs of the patient populations we serve. YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Coordinate Day-to-Day Operations: Manage daily operations of the Occupational Therapy team, including coordinating work assignments, monitoring patient/resident flow, and adjusting staff assignments as needed.
  • Provide Clinical Support and Supervision: Act as a clinical resource, coach, and mentor for staff and students, and provide direct patient/resident assessment and treatment as required. Supervise up to 24 FTEs, including Occupational Therapists and non-paramedical staff.
  • Facilitate Learning and Development: Identify learning needs, develop educational and orientation materials, and present to staff. Promote research and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Communicate and Collaborate: Ensure the Professional Practice Leader (PPL) and program/service leadership are informed of issues or concerns, and support the interdisciplinary team in achieving program/service, patient, and resident goals.
