Ocean Carrier Payables Analyst (Payable US)

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely and accurate payment of ocean freight charges to vendors.
• Reconcile ocean freight payable accounts on a regular basis to ensure financial accuracy.
• Uses operational knowledge to apply resolution to open carrier payable issues
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between freight invoices and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare weekly reconciliation reports for management review and supplier review
• Acts as a relationship builder across various internal stakeholders
• Communicate with vendors to address payment inquiries and negotiate payment terms as needed.
• Work closely with operations teams to ensure alignment of financial and operational processes.
• Identify areas for process improvement in the payables function and implement best practices internally with cross functions and externally with suppliers
• Works directly with the ocean carriers to identify improvement opportunities

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable, finance, or logistics, with a focus on ocean freight preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliation processes.
• Proficiency in operational system and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), fluent in English
• Proven hands-on experience in used operational and accounting system
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain good vendor relationships and collaborate with internal teams.
• Ability to proactively work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates the ability to independently identify tasks and projects
• Take the initiative to start and follow through without needing external prompting
