Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE

The Ocean Cartage Coordinator, based in our Banksmeadow NSW offices, is responsible for overseeing the completion of customs entries as mandated by the Australian Border Force (ABF). This role acts as a key intermediary between offshore processing teams, importers, shipping companies, and airlines.
You’ll ensure the precise recording of all shipment data in the company’s tracking system, facilitating the timely despatch of goods in line with client requirements. You’ll process customer deliveries to meet their expectations and requirements, ensuring cost-effective and prompt service delivery.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Specifically, you will:

  • Coordinate customs entry preparation requirements between the offshore processing team, customers, internal stakeholders, shipping lines, co-leaders, and airlines
  • Ensure the storage of shipment documents in the online document repository (OneScan)
  • Arrange for the despatch of client goods in accordance with customer requirements and expectations for ocean freight deliveries
  • Ensure goods release is always compliant with Australian Customs & Quarantine regulations
  • Maintain timely and accurate communication with clients regarding shipment progress and delivery commitments
  • Enter delivery and Proof of Delivery (POD) data into the Expedient system
  • Identify areas for improvement in work processes to enhance productivity and efficiency within the team
  • Liaise with the Warehouse Manager on AQIS directions and Customs inspections.

Our ideal candidate has experience gained in a similar role in a freight forwarding environment together with:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, as well as the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations and road transport requirements
  • Basic proficiency in MS applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
