Description:
We are looking for a Clerical Officer to join the Ocular Oncology Team within the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
You will support the administration team to manage the end to end clinical administrative processes associated to patient referrals and surgical bookings, in order to deliver a high quality administration service, for our patients and customers .
The work is varied and demanding with an emphasis on accuracy, adaptability and the ability to prioritise competing workloads. You will be providing administrative support to your line manager within Ophthalmology and the wider organisation.
This is a vital role in the delivery of patient care via the management of the patients end-to-end pathway and supporting the wider team. Our roles are varied and challenging and your day to day duties will include;
Management of referrals
Liaising with referring trusts to collate all relevant clinical information required by the Consultant team
Ensuring patients referrals are registered and appropriately graded to follow the correct pathway through the service to ensure a great and seamless patient experience
Supporting the MDT coordinator with Surgical booking administration.
Supporting the wider admin team as required
Although previous administration experience would be helpful, we are first and foremost looking for individuals with a passion to work in a health care setting and those with a ‘can do’ attitude. Candidates should possess the following skills;

The Ophthalmology department based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital is the largest specialist ophthalmology service in South Yorkshire.
As well as providing general eye care services to the people of Sheffield and South Yorkshire, we also provide regional and national specialist services including the treatment of patients with cancer of the eye, macular degeneration, surgical retina and oculoplastics.
The eye department based on A floor contains the outpatient clinic (with in excess of 50,000 attendances annually), emergency eye centre, glaucoma unit, low vision suite, prosthetic eye suite, orthoptics, ophthalmic imaging and electrophysiology.
