Description:
NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

As an OEM Site Safety Supervisor, you will work with the NSE EHS Team while adhering to NSE’s Safety, Health and Environmental programs. Oversee and work on construction projects to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and or property damage using job specific safety standards, best management practices, and injury free environment techniques all while building continuous improvement strategies among set peers. This position will liaise with various parties and ensure compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws and practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience is required in construction/ manufacturing and safety environment.
- Post-secondary education or higher in a relevant field is required.
- Understanding of OHSA regulations.
- Valid driver’s license “G class” is required.
- Proficient in MS Office tool-based report writing.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to achieve team goals and targets.
- Ability to work at evening/night shift.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Availability to work weekends.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed

Responsibilities:
- Regular inspection of the construction area and document daily incident report
- Escorting container trucks into the site
- If an emergency occurs in regards to (construction, safety, and equipment install), immediately reporting the information to the supervisor and taking emergency actions
- Providing daily updates to the manager orally and through email.
- Inspecting PHD (project hazard development) and work procedure of OEM’s (original equipment manufacturer)
- Auditing OEM’s to ensure that work is proceeding in a way as documented in the PHD or work procedure
- Auditing OEM’s to ensure that tasks are assigned to the workers in a way as documented in the PHD or work procedure
- Making sure everything is in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Regulations and NextStar’s H&S program. Ensure that each worker is aware of and complies with the principles outlined in the Health and Safety Program, follows the specific safe operating procedures and utilizes any engineering controls, safeguarding devices or equipment deemed necessary.
- Ensure that work is performed in a safe manner and PPE’s are used by the workers
- Provide workers with verbal and written instructions outlining the measures and procedures to be followed for their own protection.
- Taking all reasonable precautions, as required
- Ensure that workplace inspections, information sessions, investigations and training are provided as applicable. Correct any substandard acts or conditions immediately.
- Perform employee safety observations
