BUYER ASSISTANT - FOOD WHOLESALE PURCHASING ASSISTANT / IMPORT SPECIALIST

Omega Food Importers is a recognized industry leader specializing in importing European foods to Canada.
We are currently looking for a full time Buyer Assistant.
The ideal candidate will be competent in prioritizing and working with little supervision. This role will be based out of our Mississauga location.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Proficient in English language (full proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking required)
  • Proficient in Polish language (basic or good proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking required)
  • Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Must be self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and competency to learn other technology as necessary
  • 2 years or more related experience
  • Minimum: Bachelor degree or equivalent

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with vendors and freight forwarders on daily basis
  • Requesting and reviewing quotations from established vendors
  • Generating and issuing PO’s
  • Negotiating prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements with suppliers
  • Reviewing invoices and updating information in the system
  • Managing and updating data in ERP system, including but not limited to, price, quantity, product information, order details, vendor information
  • Tracking the progress for each purchase order until the shipment arrives
  • Reviewing paperwork for received orders and reporting damages and discrepancies to suppliers
  • Working with accounts payable team to resolve invoicing issues
  • Creating presentations and communicating inventory and price changes to the sales team
  • Other duties as assigned
