Description:

ChristianaCare Wilmington Adult Medicine is looking for an Office Assistant.
ChristianaCare’s Rocco A. Abessinio Family Wilmington Health Center is home to three primary care practices among other programs and services. Offering wellness and preventive health visits for people of all ages, and medical care for treating illness and injury, the team of clinical and support personnel provide the high-quality health care that every patient within our community deserves, regardless of income or ability to pay. The Wilmington Adult Medicine includes physicians who are teachers, faculty members, making it possible for resident doctors to be part of the care team. Faculty participate in research and continually advance their knowledge as they mentor leading-edge and compassionate care teams who often continue working at ChristianaCare.
You would be joining a fantastic care team that includes attending physicians, physician residents, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistant, and office assistants. Wilmington Adult Medicine sees an average of 250 patients, per day.
The Office Assistants fields phone calls, answers patient questions, schedules new and follow-up appointments, registers patients and updates record and represents the entire practice every time there is interaction with a patient.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Medical receptionist or medical assistant degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience in a medical office setting or customer service environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules appointments.
  • Answers multi line telephones and retrieves accurate messages.
  • Manages front desktop.
  • Collects payments according to insurance requirements.
  • Applies ICD9 & CPT4 codes to encounter forms for billing purposes.
  • Performs outreach calls for the team.
  • Interacts between physicians, staff, and patients to provide accurate communication and customer service.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and prioritize work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and foster professional relationships in a team environment.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
