Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Lead Clinician, Student Health, the Office Coordinator, Student Health is responsible for providing clerical support for the Student Health Centre including support for all clinicians working within the Centre. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to coordinate the appointments for all clinicians which can include nurse practitioners, nurses, counsellors, and physicians. It is the incumbent’s responsibility to ensure all necessary paperwork and files are in place and up to date for the appointment and any subsequent follow up required. The incumbent maintains all clinic records as well as coordinating the Immunization Clearance for Student Placement.
The incumbent must be able to identify and respond to students who are potentially at-risk of harm to themselves or others and ensure effective intervention is provided by an appropriate regulated professional.
The incumbent provides regular secondary support for the Equitable Learning team and must have experience working in both post-secondary and clinical environments. The incumbent performs a variety of administrative tasks including payroll submission, purchasing, maintaining paper and electronic files, and coordination of communications materials for the team. The incumbent works with the electronic medical records system (Accuro),and provides back-up support for the Equitable Learning case management system, (Penelope).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum completion of a two (2) year diploma in Health Services Office Administration – Health Services, or similar
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, Mental Health First Aid, and Suicide ASIST training are considered an asset
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience providing administrative support in an educational (post-secondary preferred) and healthcare settings
  • Knowledge and understanding of a variety of healthcare needs, including mental health
  • Familiarity with charting practices, medical documentation and local healthcare systems would be an asset
  • Experience with OHIP billing practices and third-party insurer claims.
  • Experience serving and supporting students or clients with a variety of accessibility needs
  • Experience providing welcoming, inclusive, and respectful service to a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and problem-solving skills for complex situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, analytical, multi-tasking, and priority-setting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make administrative/procedural decisions using own judgement
  • Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision and as a team member within a department with many different service areas
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction, to be self-directed and to take initiative
  • Professionalism, tact, discretion and diplomacy are required
  • Excellent computer literacy skills required and experience with clinical database management system and/or electronic medical records system would be an asset. Experience with Accuro EMR and OCEAN preferred.
