Description:

QUALIFICATIONS/MANDATORY TRAINING

  • A professional qualification (minimum Level 6 under the QQI Framework) in a related discipline is essential.

Responsibilities:

TEMPORARY, FULL-TIME (SPECIFIED PURPOSE*)

  • The specified purpose of this contract is to cover a leave of absence.
  • Approximately 12 month Contract.

Salary: €55,142 - €78,854* per annum

  • This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at Point 1 of the relevant Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role

Location: Dublin 1.

JOB PURPOSE

The international business events industry is a highly lucrative sector and results in big business for Ireland. Fáilte Ireland has a dedicated team in place to drive responsible growth in this sector that positively impacts our economy, society, and environment.
Failte Ireland are now seeking to expand this team.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will play a pivotal part in implementing initiatives within the international business events sector that drive positive impact and leave a lasting legacy, while supporting Government’s national policies and goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team to nurture and develop opportunities to bring international conferences & events to Ireland.
  • Optimise the economic, social and environmental impact of international business events.
  • Deliver on all personal KPIs, oversee support team KPIs and actively contribute to achieving the Divisional strategic goals.
  • Develop operational plans for and implement the strategic recommendations from the Business Events Strategy.
  • Managing and implementing projects aimed at addressing challenges facing the tourism and business events industry.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and execute short- and long-term plans, including clear KPIs for measurable impact.
  • Manage third party suppliers to support the delivery of strategy.
  • Provide regular reporting on performance, developments and KPIs.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  • Supporting the delivery of Fáilte Ireland’s strategic plans and developing practical solutions to support industry.
  • Feed into the wider Fáilte Ireland Business Units strategic plans for growth.
  • Collaborating with industry partners and government agencies to provide support and guidance to businesses in navigating sustainability practices.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor operational budget, ensuring activities undertaken come in within budget and are correctly forecasted in line with the overall budget and company policies.
  • Train, evaluate, motivate, delegate, and monitor the activities of your Support Team, conducting Performance Reviews in line with Fáilte Ireland policy.
  • Proactively develop the skills of the team to ensure they attain the appropriate level of competence.
  • Generate insights and identify changing market trends, opportunities and any potential barriers to growth and possible solutions.
  • Play an integral part in project teams established to deliver key projects.
    Carry out all other duties as required and participate as a full member of the Commercial Development team by supporting different work projects, as required, from time to time.
    This role requires travel, with attendance at a number of national and regional locations / sites on an annual basis.
    This role will require working unsocial hours including bank holidays with regular attendance at Dublin-based divisional and project meetings.
    The flexibility to travel domestically, and on occasion internationally is an element of this role.

IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE / DEMONSTRATE IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM THE FOLLOWING

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a related role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in project management, with experience in managing projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in collaboration tools, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
