Regulatory applications, reporting and correspondence are additional tasks the Team routinely completes as part of our site management services.

1. WestMET Ag – This agriproducts division is focused on the production and development of agricultural products centered on the unique properties of our world class Humalite resource.
2. WestMET ERS – Branching from a coal mining background in Alberta, the WestMET Earth and Reclamation Services (ERS) team aims to provide engineering, environmental and regulatory support to mine sites as well as other industrial proponents in multiple market sectors.
Currently, WestMET ERS is working with several Alberta coal mines on their path through reclamation and closure as well as ongoing compliance monitoring and reporting. WestMET strives to push the standard of reclamation forward by finding innovative solutions to achieve both regulatory compliance and equivalent land capability targets.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Oil & Gas Specialist is responsible for developing and advancing WestMET’s presence in the oil & gas industry. This role is outcome based with the need to develop and advance a team of professionals that will be focused on various oil & gas related activities. The Oil & Gas Specialist will utilize their industrial contact list to gain opportunities and to also support the hiring process of additional staff members to this particular WestMET ERS division based on workloads. Business development, marketing, safety, staff management, and field activities are tasks assigned to this role.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree or higher education related to oil & gas, environmental science, biology or related field.
  • Minimum 8-years of related work experience directly within the oil & gas market sector including lease site development and reclamation, pipeline development and reclamation, processing facilities. Experience with field programs, data management & analysis, and report writing is considered an asset.
  • Experience with marketing, business development and proposal/bid development.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities:

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may advance to having formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees that will be directly focused on the oil & gas market sector. The number of employees will range depending on workload and growth of this business unit. This position will be directed by the Director of Operations for WestMET Group Canada.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as part of a Team to develop and implement business strategies related to the oil & gas market sector that that may include, and not limited to, wellsite remediation and reclamation, pipeline construction and reclamation, midstream & downstream facility remediation and reclamation as well as other related industrial activities.
  • Support and advance a robust safety program.
  • Prepare various field reports for regulators, clients and sub-consultants.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate staff and equipment as required for field projects of various lengths of time.
  • Lead and complete field work to support client operations, regulatory requirements, and safety requirements.
  • Mentor staff for future divisional growth as well as employee career advancement.
  • Assist in other growth opportunities in the industry.
  • Constantly be aware of technological advancements and industry best standards to ensure the company is continually improving and is a proven leader.
