Description:
Position Title: On Call Resettlement Counsellor (Rohingan-speaking)
Organization Structure: Reports to the Program Coordinator
Job Classification: Counsellor
Job Status: On – Call (no guarantee of hours)
Location: Pearson International Airport
Wages: $24.48/hour
QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree/diploma in Community, Social Work, or Counselling, or a combination of experience and education that fulfills the requirements is preferred
- Three or more years of experience working with immigrant communities is an asset
- Second language is required (Rohingan)
- Knowledge of settlement and resettlement services and of the ethno-specific programs and services in the GTA
- Familiarity with issues facing newcomers in Canada
- Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and attendance
- Ability to lift 30-40 kg

Responsibilities:
- Support refugee arrivals at the airport, including escorting, interpreting, and supporting in completion of declarations and other paper work
- Assist refugees to go through CBSA, IRCC, and PHAC
- Responsible for arranging transportation to the final destination
- Provide comprehensive information to refugees about POE and RAP services
- Assist with providing administrative support to program management & other staff
- Maintain working relations with agency programs and partner agencies
- Effectively track services in internal and external databases and provide accurate reporting for the Supervisor
- Actively participate in professional development initiatives
- Must meet targets set by Program Coordinator
- Provide accurate reporting to supervisor
- Acknowledge client needs with respect and empathy
- Must be willing and ability to work on flexible schedules on an as-needed basis, evenings and weekend work is required
- Perform any other related duties as required
