Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Oncology Clinical Trials Coordinator in our Day Medical Unit and Cancer Services on a part time basis.

The Clinical Trials Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day provision and delivery of clinical trials and to the further development of the Oncology Clinical Trials Unit at NBH.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an ongoing caseload of patients on oncology clinical trials
  • Collaborate with oncologists in obtaining an informed consent for study eligible patients, ensuring that they fully understand all aspects of the proposed treatment program
  • Ensuring research is conducted in accordance with the protocol policy, legislation, ethical requirements and guidelines for Good Clinical Practice to achieve high-quality data for research
  • Assist Investigators in confirming patient eligibility for entry to a trial and perform/arrange screening according to the study guidelines
  • Documents clinical information relevant to the study (initial and subsequent visits) in the medical records
  • Coordinate the treatment programmes of study patients according to the study guidelines
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, pharmacists and other health care personnel to ensure quality and continuity of care for study patients
  • Ensuring source documentation on the medical record is complete and all documentation on the case study report form is completed in a timely manner
  • Inform physicians and staff of specific requirements for patients and monitor compliance of patients and staff in this regard
  • Provide ongoing teaching and counselling of patients and family regarding studies
  • Maintain frequent telephone contact with patients to monitor progress on study and respond to problems
  • Preparation of submissions of new protocols and amendments to the Research Governance Committee (RGC)
  • Ensure the reporting of all serious and/or unexpected adverse events to the appropriate authorities
