ONE OR MORE ASSISTANT PROFESSORS IN DESIGN

At the Department of Architecture, Design& Media Technology one or more Assistant Professor positions are available at the Section for Industrial Design. The position is open from 1st of January 2025.
The Industrial Design Section and AAU Design Lab research group focus on the role of design in the societal transition towards a more sustainable production and consumption. 25% of Co2 is tied to the consumption of consumer goods and 80% is determined in the design phase. Therefore, design plays a critical role in making the sustainable choice the desirable and preferred choice for users, organisations and in society. Research evolves around responsible resource use, that is how to narrow, slow, close and regenerate resources. Our current project portfolio in circularity covers a range of topics spanning from material re-use in ReshapeWaste and Zerowaste, reparability of products and circular consumption of second-hand products. This reflects the diversity of design from material and production methods to construction and interaction aspects, to design DNA, aesthetics, and users.
The research and teaching environment is dynamic and team-oriented, with a strong culture of collaboration between colleagues. We are looking an Assistant Professor that will join this collaborative team and the Design Lab research group and has keen interest in the mission to make design relevant in the transition to sustainability. The applicant is expected to provide a brief description of the applicant’s vision, aspiration, and direction for research. As well as past research experience and collaborative network projects. Applicants are also encouraged to outline any experience with concrete product development through various design and engineering disciplines. We are looking for applicants in design and/or engineering, with a focus on sustainability aspects related to the design of products.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
