About the College/Department
The Digital Learning and Online Content (DLOC) team is part of the Provost Learning and Teaching Department and has responsibility for delivering excellence in Digital and Online Learning at the University. The Online Learning development area consists of Learning Design and Online Content Production teams that work in partnership with Academic authors to deliver high-quality and inclusive Online Learning provision. The DLOC team has recently been named as a winner of a 2024 Catalyst Award for Diversity, Equality, Inclusion & Belonging. The award recognises the notable work of the University in fostering a digitally accessible environment.
About the role
As the Online Content Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating the production and delivery of online content to meet agreed milestones. Your core duties will include scheduling the production of online learning content and associated resources, ensuring that all deliverables align with project timelines, allocated portfolio areas, and departmental priorities.
You will play a vital role in allocating tasks within the team and will be expected to manage and oversee the entire production process, including the complex schedule of production milestones. This role requires a consultative approach, as you will work closely with academic colleagues to build and manage relationships that are essential for the timely and efficient development of online content.
Additionally, you will manage appropriate escalations and ensure that any potential delays or issues are addressed promptly. While this role does not include direct line management responsibilities, you will lead the coordination efforts across various teams and departments to achieve the desired outcomes.
The role offers opportunities for career development, including gaining specialist knowledge in online content production and project management.
This is a hybrid role with the anticipated work pattern being 2 days on site and 3 days working remotely; dependant on the needs of the business.
About You
We are seeking an Online Content Co-ordinator who is highly organised, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage detailed processes effectively. You will have experience in a formal education, adult education, or digital educational publishing setting, with a proven track record in managing complex projects and stakeholder consultations. A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant area is essential.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. You should have a deep understanding of the Higher Education sector and its regulatory frameworks, along with a solid knowledge of current learning technologies and standards. Your ability to manage workflow, interpret data, and produce comprehensive documentation to inform stakeholders will be crucial in this role.
Additionally, we value resilience, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment. While not essential, experience in coordinating content development, familiarity with content management systems and virtual learning environments, as well as knowledge of copyright and accessibility regulations, will be beneficial. Your motivation, patience, and ability to remain calm under pressure will ensure you excel in this role.

Principal accountabilities

  • Co-ordinate and monitor online content development to ensure delivery to agreed milestones.
  • Work in partnership with Colleges and the Online Academic Hub, aligning outputs to the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure online content meets agreed milestone commitments.
  • To develop and maintain effective monitoring mechanisms and to effectively coordinate multiple small projects including the scheduling, monitoring, and tracking of deliverables.
  • Proactively build, nurture, and manage relationships with academic colleagues to assure timely and efficient delivery of online content.
  • To carry out the appropriate administrative tasks involved in the delivery of content development projects.
  • To support with coordinating the production of media elements (video, audio, animation, etc.)
  • To provide advice and guidance to academic members of staff on content quality factors.
  • To allocate work to team members in line with project deliverables, allocated portfolio areas and departmental priorities.
  • To monitor stakeholder queries, responding to queries where appropriate and coordinating responses from team members.
  • To develop and accurately report, and monitor, budgetary spend to ensure it remains in line with the available budget and any conflicts or issues are escalated.
  • To coordinate the production and distribution of contracts/purchase orders for academics and suppliers (proof reading and transcription services etc) who are contributing towards the development of content.
  • To develop and compile summary reports providing an accurate reflection of project progress, highlighting any issues and concerns.
  • To seek to develop and improve work practices, standardising, and enhancing documentation of processes.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post and as required by the Online Content Production Lead.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or work experience in a relevant area

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in a formal education, adult education and / or digital educational publishing setting.
  • Experience of managing detailed processes and stakeholder consultations and negotiations.

  • Experience of working in a co-ordinator role.
