ONSHORE WIND ENGINEER – PRINCIPAL / TECHNICAL DIRECTOR LEVEL

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for highly skilled and experienced wind engineers to join our UK team. Working at Principal or Technical Director level, you will provide crucial support to our Australian business in leading and realising high-profile wind projects across the entire project lifecycle. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering innovative and resilient energy infrastructure powering the global energy transition.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in BESS engineering at a Principal or Technical Director level. Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) desirable.
- Deep knowledge of wind turbine technologies, site assessment, wind farm design and grid integration, with proficiency in relevant design and simulation software (e.g. WindPRO, WAsP, PLEXOS).
- Proven track record of leading complex projects, with a strong focus on technical excellence, client satisfaction and commercial success.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and deliver innovative solutions in high-pressure environments.
- Adept at navigating the regulatory landscape and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience of cross-regional working / global service delivery models.
Responsibilities:
- Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work closely with our Australian business, ensuring seamless project execution under our global service delivery model.
- Leadership and Direction : Lead and inspire teams delivering high-impact projects, fostering excellence in all aspects of onshore wind system design and engineering.
- Technical Services : Oversee all technical aspects of projects, including feasibility studies (including energy yield, wind resource, site condition and suitability wind farm layout and LCOE assessments), engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Technical Due Diligence : Support with Technical Due Diligence efforts on renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on evaluating and mitigating risks associated with onshore wind assets.
- Project Management : Oversee projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure rigorous compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, championing best practices in every project.
- Client Relationship Management : Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for technical expertise and project delivery.
- Business Development : Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations and the expansion of GHD’s portfolio in the energy sector.
