Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Immunopathology and Hematopathology Laboratory, affiliated with the Section of Allergy and Immunology, Department of Pediatrics is looking for a motivated individual interested in laboratory immunology. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in developing novel assays for immune diagnostics and participating in translational research projects.
The individual who accepts this position will spend 80% of their time on flow cytometry, cell culture-based assays, protein gels, and Western blots, and will be involved in collaborative research projects. Working with the laboratory medical director and the laboratory supervisor, this individual will train on flow cytometry techniques and assist with developing assays for the detection of a variety of human immune cells (immune phenotype) and assays for analysis of human immune function, both of which will support diagnosis and management of immune-related disorders. Additionally, this individual will also be involved with research projects focused on understanding the immunological response in food allergy and will assist with cryopreservation and storage of research study samples along with maintaining a database with sample information. 20% of this position’s time will be spent on maintaining detailed laboratory notes and assisting with routine laboratory maintenance and laboratory supply inventory. This individual is expected to attend laboratory meetings and present their experimental data when required and will have the opportunity to attend other immunology-related meetings and seminars. This position offers the opportunity to participate in developing manuscripts for publication.
