We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team dedicated to the Margo project. In this role, you will contribute to the development of open standards, reference implementations, and compliance testing toolkits that facilitate interoperability in edge computing environments. You will be responsible for leading the standardization of Project Margo to align with ZEDEDA’s strategic goals while driving connectivity to the LF Edge community. This role is ideal for someone passionate about driving open-source projects, building community-driven architectures, and promoting widespread industry adoption through strategic initiatives.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Open Source Architect to spearhead the integration and standardization of Project Margo into our portfolio while enhancing our participation in the LF Edge community

QUALIFICATIONS



    • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

    • Programming Skills: Proficiency in languages commonly used in systems programming, such as C, C++, or Rust. Hands-on expertise using Linux, working with APIs, and scripting languages.
    • Edge Computing Knowledge: Understanding of edge computing architectures, industrial automation systems, and the challenges associated with interoperability in these environments.
    • Key Technologies: Experience developing and deploying Docker and Kubernetes based applications
    • Open Source Experience: Prior experience contributing to open-source projects, with a solid grasp of collaborative development practices.
    • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges in a systematic manner.
    • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
    • Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a distributed team environment, showing initiative and adaptability.

    • Industrial Automation Experience: Familiarity with industrial automation protocols and systems.
    • Cloud and Edge Integration: Experience with cloud-native technologies and their integration with edge computing solutions.

    ZEDEDA’s main compensation philosophy is to provide you with the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop with the company. The base pay range, dependent on your skills, qualifications, experience and location for this role is targeted at $225,000 and will also include equity and benefits components to round out your total compensation

    Responsibilities:



      • Standards Implementation: Develop and maintain reference implementations that adhere to the open standards defined by the Margo initiative.

      • Testing and Validation: Create and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of Margo solutions.
      • Documentation: Produce clear and concise technical documentation to support the adoption and integration of Margo technologies by external developers and organizations.
      • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to align development efforts with project goals and timelines.
      • ZEDEDA Product Direction: Collaborate with the product management team to integrate open-source insights into ZEDEDA’s product strategy.
      • Demo Development: Showcase demos and reference architectures centered around Project Margo and the LF Edge Sandbox.
      • Sales Support: Equip the sales team with knowledge about open source strategies and go-to-market (GTM) options, facilitating better client engagements.
      • Open Source Event Participation: Actively represent ZEDEDA at key open-source industry events, presenting our projects and initiatives.
