Position Summary: This position, reporting to the VP of Forestry and Integration Services, is a critical role in the operation’s project development, planning and execution of strategic work. Key accountabilities include supporting senior leadership in building, sustaining, and developing relationships with LDCs and executing on potential acquisitions and other growth opportunities pertaining to the electrical utility sector. The role will also be required to review current program offerings, enhancing projects and designing new initiatives that will encourage increased team engagement and customer impact. The successful incumbent will require expertise in project planning, have strong financial acumen and will be accountable for timely execution of strategy defined by senior leadership.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Supervise staff engaged in the development and delivery of Distribution and Transmission Forestry work programs. Plan, schedule, organize and assign work to ensure that quality and accuracy of work are maintained and on schedule. Provide advice, guidance and direction to staff in the resolution of work related problems, as well provide clear expectations and performance measures. Provide leadership through demonstration and response to staff requirements to achieve targets and quality objectives. Make effective recommendations on human resource issues, including career counselling, hiring, discharge, discipline and resolving work performance problems.
- Develop assigned work processes, monitor, evaluate and recommend changes and improvements to ensure efficient and effective completion of work as required.
- Compile, analyze, assess and review information, designs, specifications, schedules and resource capability as part of business planning and work programming for Distribution and Transmission Forestry work. Evaluate the complete package, identify and recommend potential changes for improvement including price, service levels, staffing plans, schedule and resource optimization.
- Assist in discussions, problem solving and issue resolution with customers, developers, joint use parties, utilities, road authorities and internal clients regarding negotiation, implementation and ongoing work performance for work programs.
- Monitor processes, work program expectations, policies and work performed to identify items requiring audit and prepare standards and specifications to audit against, to ensure reasonable compliance related to delivery of service as agreed.
- Provide advice and direction on processes, technical specification and requirements, work program expectations, resource requirements and related activities.
- Identify, plan, organize and monitor requirements and processes for activities requiring completion by various groups to ensure delivery of service, as required.
- Work with members of the Distribution Forestry team to determine jurisdictional work assignments, training requirements, deficiencies, legislative changes, work methods, staff forecasting, market conditions and business needs all effecting the planning and execution of work.
- Advise and work with Work Force Acquisition on all matters related to new, rehab, and contract work related to IOPA, CPA, and PSA agreements.
- Conduct and participate in work activities such as cost analysis and the preparation of productivity studies of ongoing and finalized projects. Refer to the information produced and available on benchmarks.
- Maintain an awareness of technological advances in work tools, scheduling, processes, databases, work management processes, estimating, reporting, data collection to enhance the work management and execution.
- Assist in resolution of deficiencies collaborating with field staff as necessary. Promote the understanding and use of established policies, processes, standards, criteria and methods.
- Keep well-informed of technology and recommend applications within the Company. Participate as a technical representative in internal & external committees and pilot applications, as required.
