Description:
Overview
The Program Operations Intern will play a vital support role in the day-to-day operations of the Tobacco Policy Action Fund for Africa (TOPAFA) initiative in Nigeria. This internship will focus on facilitating the planning, coordination, and execution of MSH operational and logistical activities, aimed at enhancing the Government of Nigeria’s efforts to enforce 100% smoke-free laws, implement graphic health warnings on tobacco packaging, and regulate tobacco advertisement, promotion, and sponsorship. By supporting the TOPAFA initiative, the intern will contribute to the advancement of tobacco control policies and regulations in Nigeria.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and organization of documents, reports, and presentations related to TOPAFA-funded projects.
- Support the tracking and documentation of project progress, including maintaining records of communications, meetings, and key milestones.
- Assist in drafting and distributing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items from project-related meetings.
- Contribute to dissemination of communication materials that promote tobacco control policies in Nigeria.
- Contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of activities that enable MSH to provide effective operations management support to the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health, including meetings, workshops, and training sessions with government agencies and key stakeholders.
- Support activities for the provision of logistical arrangements such as booking venues, catering, transportation, and accommodation for events and meetings.
- Collaborate with the operations team in coordinating with external vendors and suppliers to ensure the smooth execution of project activities.
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on the status of policy implementation related to tobacco control (smoke-free laws, graphic health warnings, etc.).
- Take inventory of actions on a routine basis for tracking compliance with project workplan timelines and deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated interest/ passion for tobacco control, public health, or policy advocacy is a plus.
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in project management or operations support is preferred.
