JOB DESCRIPTION:
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join the team here at Leonardo in Edinburgh. This role will lead all manufacturing activities and resources to deliver products to schedule, quality and cost for a line of business. Supporting the operations function of over 550 team members is a great challenge for somebody looking to advance their career.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

- Experience in delivering key manufacturing projects into production

- Leadership and delivery experience in a high technology, low volume, manufacturing environment (ideally for the Defence Industry) with a proven record of accomplishment.
- A strong people leader, with excellent communication skills and experience of mentoring, coaching and performance management.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and experience in implementation within a manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 and experience in supporting audits and accreditation efforts.
- Experience of working with SAP within a Manufacturing context.
- An individual that embraces change, drives continuous improvement and has the ability to influence stakeholders across the Business.
- Experience of cost centre ownership and financial reporting.
- Ability to produce key material to present at senior leader level
- A resilient and progressive mentality, looking for opportunities for innovation
Responsibilities:
- Achievement of all manufacturing deliverables to schedule, quality and cost targets.
- Leadership of manufacturing input to bid activities for new business opportunities.
- Lead manufacturing input for ‘Line of Business life cycle management processes. Chair Manufacturing Maturity Reviews and manage subsequent action closures.
- Champion continuous improvement for area of control.
- Lead a cross functional team and provide technical leadership along with training, coaching and guidance as necessary.
- Exceptional people skills to lead, motivate and develop people within the Operations function and across the cross-functional teams.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills; excellent communicator, strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Experienced in influencing and negotiating with multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of continuous improvement techniques e.g. Lean Six Sigma.
- Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing and Engineering roles. Project Management and Supply Chain Management skills and experience are also highly desirable.
- Proven track record in delivery of complex electro-mechanical products and systems.
- Experienced in working in Aerospace or other regulated/certified industries e.g. Automotive.
- Good understanding of SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) legislation.
- Understanding of Scenario and Capacity Planning, MRP and SIOP.
- Degree in relevant subject or equivalent experience
