Description:

The Northamptonshire Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service is excited to be expanding in line with the NHS Long Term Plan ambitions for Perinatal Mental Health. We are pleased to be able to recruit a Nursing Operational Manager to provide specialist knowledge, leadership and expertise relating to the provision of perinatal mental health nursing interventions under the Countywide Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service alongside the service manager, Social Work and OT Operational Managers.
The postholder will provide operational and clinical leadership for the Mental Health Nursing pathway and shared management of the duty and assessment pathway within the service.
The postholder will be part of the service’s leadership team to provide clinical and managerial supervision and leadership in order to increase the offer to women experiencing or at risk of experiencing moderate to severe mental health conditions during pregnancy and 12 months postpartum with follow up where indicated up to 24 months postpartum.
NHFT is an Outstanding rated integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire
NHFT welcomes applications from people, regardless of age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital or civil partnership status or pregnancy or maternity status.
We would encourage applications from groups who are currently underrepresented in the organisation. In particular, applications from disabled people (with both visible and non-visible disabilities), people from black and minority ethnic communities and lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered (LGBT) people.
NHFT is committed to building a diverse workforce, ensuring staff are treated fairly at work and ensuring all staff have the learning and development they need on equality in order to undertake their job role.
We aim to use monitoring information provided by our staff and by job applicants to ensure that we do not discriminate in employment and to use this information to plan any Positive Action to address inequality.

THE LONG TERM PLAN AMBITIONS INCLUDE:

Increasing provision of services to women experiencing or at risk of experiencing moderate to severe perinatal mental health conditions
Increasing the provision of psychological interventions to women and their families
Assessment and signposting of fathers and partners of women open to the service
Providing specialist perinatal interventions to a number of mothers, where clinically indicated, up to 24 months postpartum
We are looking for a Mental Health Nurse with significant clinical and leadership experience, a passion for perinatal mental health and MDT working who will be involved in leading the expansion and development of the service.
This is a Countywide position.
Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable and knowledge of Perinatal Mental Health Conditions, prevalence rates, treatment interventions and Safeguarding Policies and Procedures is essential. A keen interest and passion for working with women and their families is a must, as is the ability to work closely with a range of professionals from health visiting, Maternity, Children’s Services and the Third Sector.
There will be opportunities for further training via local and regional delivered training programmes. We have strong links with the East Midlands Regional Perinatal Network. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the development of a locally agreed programme that delivers training to health and social care professionals in Northamptonshire.
We have developed an exciting induction programme to meet the Perinatal Competency Framework and provide regular supervision and training for all our staff.
The service uses video assessment and consultation in addition to face to face working and has developed some innovative ways of working including on line group delivery.
If you want to work as part of our expanding specialised multi-professional team, we want to hear from you
