THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a core role inside both the Group Risk function and across the wider Bank, for a 12-month maternity leave cover. Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, the role holder will be part of the 2nd line Operational Risk Team and will support with the development, embedding and oversight of the groups risk management framework. They will work with stakeholders across the bank to ensure effective collaboration and oversight for operational risks.
Collaboration across our business areas and within the Group Risk team will be essential for success, to ensure that we leverage the use of data and technology to improve our oversight of key risks, following the successful implementation of a new GRC tool in 2023.
The ideal candidate will have financial services experience. Knowledge of commercial (SME and Real Estate), and consumer Lending would be beneficial, though is not essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Head of Operational Risk in embedding the risk management framework.
- Drive usage and engagement of the Group’s GRC tool (Auditboard) across 1st line Risk Champions, providing support and guidance to ensure adherence to the risk management framework.
- Engage with 1st line business areas to ensure risks and controls are appropriately documented in Auditboard, and that control design/operational effectiveness is regularly tested.
- Provide oversight and challenge to the 1st line across all key areas of the risk management framework, including: RCSA, risk events and KRI’s.
- Champion continuous improvement by utilising MI (including PowerBI dashboards within Auditboard) and monitoring themes and trends.
- Represent risk on business projects, to ensure delivery risks have been considered and are appropriately managed.
- Represent risk at committees, and where required, provide secretariat support.
- Support with the ongoing maintenance and development of the Group’s GRC tool.
- Update and maintain relevant operational risk policies and standards.
- Keep up to date with emerging threats, industry developments, and internal MI that may impact the Bank’s exposure to risks and potential losses.
