Description:

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional with a minimum of 7 years in the field. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Investment Banking products and services, experience in regulatory interactions, and the capability to lead and implement effective operational risk management strategies. Knowledge of processes, risks, and controls within Middle Office/Back Office functions and support areas such as IT, Finance, Risk, and Compliance is preferred. Proficiency with PC tools and applications, including MS Office, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools like PowerBI, is also desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 7 years of experience in operational risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking products, services, and functions.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, results-oriented team player who fosters collaboration and manages disagreements constructively.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills, comfortable leading discussions at all levels, including local management committees.
  • Experience in handling regulatory requests and participating in meetings with regulators.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all functions.
  • Rigorous in analysis and reporting, with a keen sense of urgency and prioritization.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Visual Basic; familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and French (speaking, reading, writing).

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Canadian 1st Line of Defense (1LoD) to ensure incidents and losses are tracked, escalated, and addressed appropriately.
  • Ensure that key risk/control indicators are in place and reported accurately and timely.
  • Prepare, review, and challenge RCSA processes with the 1LoD to ensure comprehensive reporting of key risks and controls.
  • Maintain strong relationships and effective communication with Operational Risk Representatives (ORR) in the 1LoD and other 2LoD functions such as Market and Credit Risk, Compliance, and Audit.
  • Participate in Internal Control and Operational Risk Committees, contributing to governance and reporting requirements, including semi-annual and annual reports.
  • Engage with various 1LoD and 2LoD committees to understand operational risks and provide independent challenge where necessary.
  • Manage regulatory interactions and assist in evaluating key risk areas, threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
  • Balance regulatory and methodology requirements with local management needs.
  • Conduct spot-checks, test controls, and report findings to relevant committees.
  • Handle and manage requests from regulators and internal evaluations.
