Are you an Operational Health & Safety expert with a passion for Built Environment space ?

Due to the complexity and geographical distribution , this role is a busy and complex one.
In order to apply , you will need a strong understanding of the specific H&S needs for higher-risk property, construction, and maintenance disciplines and will act as the in-house specialist for the operational safety within the workplace , therefore being the eyes and ears on all safety matters.

In this role you will :

  • Liaise with ( and direct where applicable) strategic contractor safety activities on high profile infrastructure projects
  • Be the go-between person on externally contracted projects, including pre-project planning on matters pertaining to safety
  • Respond to emergencies, such as workplace accidents and provide investigative reporting as required on worksite incidents, including liaison with WorkSafe NZ where and necessary
  • Liaise on matters of common interest, including legislative and regulatory compliance
  • Inspect work areas for safety hazards and risks
  • Develop safety SOPs for contracted projects - including pre-project planning and implementation of Permit to Work (PTW) arrangements
  • Write accident reports based on investigations
  • Ensure workplace safety standards meet legal requirements
  • Further develop and maintain the existing Safety, Risk and Hazard records in accordance with current legal and best practice requirements

Skills And Experience needed for this role :

  • Diploma qualifications in workplace and/or architectural safety management * OR* 3+ years proven experience within the built, or other environments
  • More than 2 years experience in an Operational Safety (leadership) role
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate the importance of safety and regulatory requirements to all levels including senior stakeholders and leadership
  • Sound organisation and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to work on numerous requirements and tasks simultaneously
