Job Description
The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.
We are looking for an Operations Analyst to work within the Operations NQ Delivery: Assessment & Data Services (ADS) team. ADS is a large operational team who is heavily involved in a variety of projects and improvement initiatives to improve the delivery of our services and meet emerging demands.
The successful candidate will be part of a team who manage and support the delivery of all developments impacting operational activities across Assessment & Data Services (ADS). This includes the specification and delivery of business processes, user requirements and user acceptance testing for new services to ensure they meet the needs of the business in terms of quality, consistency, and ease of use, and establishing standards and processes to support this delivery.

To do this, you must be able to demonstrate experience in the following specific duties:

  • Plan, lead, deliver and evaluate a wide range of projects including the production of documentation throughout the project life cycle in order to meet project and live delivery deadlines and fulfil the requirements of all stakeholders
  • Manage and co-ordinate the completion of user requirements including understanding and evaluating business processes and working with business analysts and lead users to ensure accurate specification of system requirements.
  • Lead user acceptance testing for new services to ensure they meet the needs of the business in terms of quality, consistency and ease of use including:
  • Working with the User Acceptance Testing team and users in the production of test plans and test scripts, identification of data and environment requirements, and reporting UAT outcomes.
  • Planning, securing, and assigning resources as required

Additionally, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Have experience in managing business change including business process change, requirements gathering and systems analysis
  • Have experience in leading User Acceptance Testing in an agile environment
  • Have project experience with a strong understanding of the project lifecycle and Microsoft Project
  • Ability to initiate and lead on projects or activities with multiple dependencies across business areas
  • Ability to work on own initiative in pressurised situations and to constantly changing deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience of data analysis, Microsoft Excel and PowerBI would be advantageous

Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 (Degree or SVQ4) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role.
