Description:

ENTREC Alberta is looking for an experienced Operations Controller, Trucking to join its team at LaPrairie Group of Companies’ corporate office in Calgary, Alberta. Entrec Alberta is a heavy haul trucking company and a proven leader in specialized over-weight, over-sized cargo hauling and jack & slide services. The CAPSTAN Hauling division of Entrec Alberta, based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, specializes in oilfield trucking and picker truck services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Professional accounting designation required.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial and accounting management.
  • Experience within the trucking, heavy hauling and oilfield services industries a definite asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to build and maintain great relationships with managers, co-workers and owners.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting operations for this diversified transportation business unit: preparation and review of financial statements, review payroll data, accounts payable, accounts receivable (collections) and produce inventory reports for weekly review.
  • Oversee the analysis of financial data to update owners regarding profitability.
  • Prepare, analyze and present monthly operating results with the manager.
  • Work with branch managers to review services pricing, costing and margins.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation for all bank accounts and JE’s.
  • Maintain up-to-date, complete and systematic electronic filing systems to support book-keeping and financial records.
  • Review, prepare and ensure payment of GST, PST and other applicable taxes, as required.
  • Provide business owners and CFO with ongoing information to ensure proper insurance coverages are in place for assets, garage policies, buildings.
  • Other related duties as required or assigned.
