Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

To provide and manage an effective and efficient administration support for operational processes which underpin the effective running of the College of Arts & Humanities and its constituent Schools.
The role holder will be deployed across the College to meet current operational need with deployment initially in the School of Critical Studies. As a progressive and constantly evolving institution, the University implements new systems and adopts new ways of working, and the role holder may be deployed in other areas of the College to cover business needs. This will provide the role holder with the opportunity to acquire a variety of skills and experience.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for the delivery of school wide administrative service relative to locally delivered operational and financial management processes, working in partnership and seeking professional guidance from business partner colleagues as necessary for complex issues.
  2. Responsibility for ensuring compliance with University wide financial and people based systems and processes, leading best practice and broader transformation agenda initiatives where relevant.
  3. Provision of detailed analysis and advice/evaluation for the Head of School, Head of Professional Services and the Senior Management Team with reference to established University procedures.
  4. Supervision of a local Operations Team on operational matters, being responsible for a culture of continuous improvement in areas of responsibility and managing daily workloads to ensure comprehensive financial management and operational support for academic and administrative colleagues and ensuring all relevant processing and reporting deadlines are met.
  5. Leading administrative procedures relating to data protection and Freedom of Information ensuring governance and data handling is carried out in strict compliance with University policies and procedures.
  6. School-wide responsibility for best practice and governance in the maintenance of accurate and compliant records, using these records to prepare analyses and reports that support operational and strategic decision making.
  7. Responsible for the provision of effective administrative support for all relevant School committees and their convenor, taking a leading role as clerk to these committees and have responsibility for ensuring actions are effectively followed up.
  8. You will manage business partner relationships with relevant central functions to influence the effective operation of the School, this will include responsibility for the effective management of the physical estate, ensuring it meets the needs to deliver senior management objectives and priorities.
  9. Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by your line manager.
