Breathe BioMedical (BBM) is a medical technology company focused on developing a simple, accessible and non-invasive breath test for early-stage breast cancer. Breath analytics involves the collection, processing, and analysis of breath samples to identify biomarker patterns associated with specific diseases. BBM is located in Moncton, New Brunswick and its US subsidiary is located in Boston, Massachusetts. Student interns are a vital part of Breathe BioMedical’s development. Engineering interns are recruited to work on specific projects based on their skills and education levels. Projects will allow interns to complete tangible deliverables that both advance the companies development goals and compliment the students’ learning objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in electrical engineering (preference 3rd year or above)
- Relevant industry experience is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging electrical hardware and wiring
- Strong AC and power electronics knowledge
- Exposure to control automation equipment (PID, PLC)
- Proficient in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software (Altium Designer, SolidWorks Electrical)
- Exposure to common electrical lab equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes)
- Experience in or understanding of Quality Management (Medical Device experience an asset)
- Proficient in MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint
- Willingness to learn how to use relevant tools for hands-on tasks as needed
- Demonstrated integrity, values, principles, and work ethic
- Willing and able to learn and work independently with minimal supervision
- Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines

Responsibilities:
- Design control automation and associated hardware to increase product line performance, reliability, and usability
- Work on component design & optimization for upscaled production (DFMA)
- Assist in developing in-house manufacturing capabilities to bring part manufacturing in-house
- Demonstrate ability to continuously learn, incorporate and apply new knowledge in the work environment
- Participate in engineering and design meetings
- Assist in the assembly and testing of prototypes
- Take full responsibility for tasks, including consistent review of own work to identify and improve an approach for producing high quality work products, while working under supervision
