Essential skills:

Responsibilities:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The Operations Executive, Television, London will lead the Television Operations team based across the London estate and is a key member of the Media Operations management team. You will be required to work and partner with senior editorial teams in Television, Visualisation and technology. This role involves close collaboration with the team’s Operations Managers and Directors and is responsible for some of the BBC’s most high-profile and most watched TV content, including the BBC News at 6 and 10, Newsnight and our Arabic and Persian services which garner millions of viewers in those markets. As a key member of the Media Operations management team in London, you will work closely with other operational teams on the site to foster a culture of working together. You will also ensure that effective relationships exist across other centres where Media Operations teams are based to ensure that skills and operational experience are maximsed across the division
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a highly visible and trusted leader, focusing on effective management and enhancing staff engagement across a number of teams
- Provide leadership for operational staff across a number of teams within the TV part of the department, managing performance, training, and development.
- Collaborate with production partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality content.
- Align with divisional and departmental objectives to formulate viable and strategic business plans.
- Effectively manage and control the team budget including the management and negotiation of contract to ensure delivery of best value contracts with internal/external suppliers. Supporting senior leaders in maintaining effective financial control.
- Ensure timely provision of accurate expenditure forecasts and progress reports, establish and set cost/forecast priorities to enable cost/schedule risks to be identified and managed effectively.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and new technology. Share knowledge and experiences with colleagues, and proactively seek out, recommend, and adopt more effective techniques, ways of working, and best practices to drive efficiencies and deliver value for money.
- Ensure that teams working in sometimes challenging environments are motivated and can contribute fully.
- Maintain and develop close, reciprocal working relationships within our audio teams and with other trading partners to balance creative aspirations with financial and resource constraints, including providing cost-effective budgets, monitoring spend, identifying investment potential and risks.
- Build and maintain relationships with recognised trade unions to ensure a collaborative and constructive industrial relations climate.
- Assess actual and potential risks to maintain efficiencies, including authorising spend within financial authority limits and ensuring that the team understand the delegated limits and work within them.
- As a senior manager in a 24/7 operation there will be some out of office hours responsibilities.
- In conjunction with the Head of Department and other senior leaders, contribute to the smooth running of our global TV output across Media Operations. Support and develop Operations Managers in their daily duties whilst also line management responsibility of key roles within the team.
