We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join the team in North Wales & Cheshire. This role requires an enthusiasm and commitment to lead the management of our Asphalt plants and Quarries.
We are looking for strong Asphalt and Aggregates experience along with the ability to influence and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will be people and performance focused with the drive to make it happen.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE

  • Strong experience in the Asphalt and Aggregates industry is essential.
  • Experience in leadership roles within the construction materials industry including; Asphalt & Aggregates, Quarry Management, technical, environmental management and health and safety.
  • Experience of leading and developing teams at a senior level, within the construction industry, setting strategy and delivering results.
  • Ability to perform adequately under pressure and/or opposition. Ability to make controlled responses in difficult situations.
  • Delegation - Effective use of team experience and skills. Knowledge of when, how and whom to delegate. Effective allocation of decision-making and other responsibilities.
  • Problem Analysis - Ability in identifying problems, seeking pertinent data, recognising important information, and identifying possible causes of problems.
  • Judgment - Ability to evaluate data and course of action and to reach logical decisions. Unbiased, rational approach.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To establish, develop, drive and monitor the regional operational strategy, with clear links into the wider business and commercial strategies.
  • To continuously monitor performance within the region against business targets, identifying areas for increased performance and efficiency.
  • Provide leadership to your operations teams, in a style that both drives the business to improve performance and creates the conditions in which the team are supported, motivated and high achieving. Develop the team, both individually and collectively, through engagement, delegation, coaching, mentoring, and learning.
  • Communicate to the team in a clear and effective manner, business expectations, including performance requirements and results.
  • With the support of the SHE team, build a true safety culture within the area and ensure all SHE compliance.
  • To champion and drive positive change management within the area.
  • To work with local teams to identify and drive the implementation of cost saving initiatives and investment opportunities.
  • To oversee capital and investment proposals and subsequent plans for their implementation.
  • To represent the area at senior management forums and act as an operational link to the business support functions.
  • Ensure that the key area roles are filled with people who can effectively undertake their roles in the daily function of the business, that their roles are clearly understood.
  • To deliver on targets set regarding technical and quality controls.
  • Represent the business interests on industry boards as appropriate, while also building relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and national bodies as required.
  • To support in planning and development opportunities within the area.
  • To operate sites in an environmentally responsible manner and comply with company values, procedures, and statutory regulations.
    You will lead the Operations team to maximise the operational performance mainly at our asphalt plants and quarries by motivating and managing people, sharing experience and knowledge, controlling costs and standards, whilst placing the highest importance on our sustained standards of excellence in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Management – you will be a leading contributor to the Company’s zero harm culture.
