Description:
JOB SUMMARY
As the Operations Manager at Bevo’s Sky facility you will be a key member of the leadership team responsible for ensuring the timely and quality completion of production work in the greenhouse, which currently produces over 4 million orchids annually through an 18 month growing cycle. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of tasks and timelines under the supervision of the Director of Growing, ensuring that all departments are functioning properly and completing their responsibilities. Your responsibilities will span everything from the intake of supplies and growing material through to shipping of product to customers. This will include supervision and guidance to a team of managers and supervisors each responsible for their own key area.

- Experience in budget/resource management
- Previous experience in greenhouse production/grower/horticulture is an asset, but not explicitly required.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee production operations at the Sky greenhouse.
- Lead a team of direct reports including department managers, supervisors, general labourers, temporary foreign workers, inventory, and shipping personnel. Managing performance including appraisals, interviews of potential new hires, and other tasks as required.
- With your team, and with guidance from the grower team, create an effective labour plan to ensure the efficient and precise completion of priority crop work, respecting proper manning to workloads, training, safety measures, and motivating the team.
- Management of contracted labour, ensuring correct numbers of contractors to daily requests. Also ensure all contractors have gone through the onboarding process to include information verification (work permits), safety orientation, and anything else required.
- Ensure production timelines are adhered to and are economical.
- With the grower team, link production and shipping staff to ensure timelines are met.
- Work closely with maintenance to ensure facilities are optimally maintained and keep appraised of capital improvements plan for awareness, assisting in achieving goals.
- Educate and enforce all workplace policies and procedures.
- Implement company safety policies and ensure compliance by all employees/contractors/visitors.
